Meta Ads vs Google Ads: Which Works Better in Dubai?
27 Aug 2026 · 2 min read
This is usually asked as though one platform is better. They are not competing. One creates demand and one captures it, and which you should start with depends entirely on whether people are already searching for what you sell.
The distinction that decides it
Google Ads captures demand that already exists. Someone types "emergency plumber Dubai Marina" and you appear. The intent arrived before you did; you are paying to be the answer.
Meta Ads create demand that did not exist yet. Nobody opens Instagram intending to book a dental cleaning. You are paying to interrupt well enough that they want to.
That difference drives everything else - what a click costs, how fast results arrive, and how much creative work is involved.
Start with Google if people are searching
If there is real search volume for your service in the UAE, start there. Enquiries arrive faster, the intent is higher, and the search query data tells you exactly which words your buyers use. That language then makes your Meta creative better, which is why running Google first often makes Meta cheaper later.
Check Keyword Planner for the UAE before assuming. Plenty of categories have less search volume here than founders expect.
Start with Meta if the category has no search
If nobody knows to search for what you sell - a new product, a lifestyle service, an offer people did not know existed - Google has nothing to capture. Meta is the right first spend, and creative is where the work is. Targeting matters far less than it used to; the algorithm finds the audience if the creative earns attention.
Meta also wins where the product is visual. Aesthetics, fitness, hospitality, fashion and interiors all perform well here because the feed rewards a good image.
What each costs
Google clicks in the UAE run from about AED 1 in retail to AED 45 in real estate. Meta clicks are typically cheaper, but the intent behind them is lower, so cost per click is not comparable across platforms. Compare cost per qualified enquiry instead, which is the only figure both platforms can be judged on fairly.
Both need roughly the same minimum to work: about AED 3,000 a month in spend before the algorithm has enough conversions to optimise properly.
Running both
Once each is working alone, the combination is worth more than the sum. Search terms from Google tell you what to say in Meta creative. Meta retargeting picks up the people who clicked a Google ad and did not convert, usually at a fraction of the original click cost. And your organic content lowers what both of them cost over time.
Most UAE businesses should not start with both on day one. Get one producing predictably, then add the second.
The honest summary
- People already searching for you? Start with Google Ads.
- Nobody is searching yet, or the product is visual? Start with Meta Ads.
- Need results this quarter? Google, almost always.
- Building a brand people recognise before they need you? Meta.
If you are not sure which describes your business, that is exactly what the discovery call is for, and saying so plainly is part of the job.
